The Rumors & Truth Over The Edison Chen Scandal

There are few more rumors around about reason behind the Edison Chen scandal. Firstly, "Kira" are the one who leaks the scandal materials as he couldn't get the ransom money. Secondly, Edison Chen father (陳澤民) had heavy debt. Thirdly, the battle between Hong Kong’s two largest artistes’ management companies, EEG and China Star.

People notice that the scandal was directed at EEG and Albert Yeung. It can be seen by the order of release of the nude pictures. The first female star was EEG’s Gillian Chung. Then it was China Star’s “traitor” Cecilia Cheung. Afterwards, it was Albert Yeung’s niece, Vincy. Edison had several roles:singer, idol, clothing store owner and the tabloid boyfriend of Gillian, Cecilia Cheung, BoBo Chan and others. He was also the son of a wealthy businessman, and boyfriend of Albert Yeung’s niece. The last two identities are key reasons to the sex picture scandal.

The two companies have been clashing with each other for a while. It can be clearly seen from the marriage of Cecilia and Nicholas Tse. EEG owns the entire management contract of Nicholas. During that time, China Star signed Cecilia’s movie management contract. The two companies’first major clash was over Nicholas and Cecilia’s relationship. Cecilia was encouraged by China Star to abandon the relationship and maintain her image. Cecilia successfully became a “Best Actress” and China Star won the first round.

But, Cecilia and Nicholas reunited their love. Cecilia’s relationship with China Star quickly took a turn for the worse. The two announced their reunited relationship to the public through EEG and China Star was still unaware of the events. To save face, China Star and EEG comprised with each other to release the related information.

Afterwards, Nicholas and Cecilia quickly got married overseas. Once again, EEG released information to the public. And again, China Star was not aware of what happened and they could not stand it anymore. There were rumours that they would sever their contract with Cecilia. But Cecilia had backing and beat China Star to the court. She sued China Star for NTK$ 65 million of income.
