Marion Jones Admits Taking Steroid; Sentenced To Jail

Olympic track star Marion Jones has acknowledged using steroids in preparation for the 2000 Summer Games in Sydneywas. She has sentenced 6 months in jail due to lying to federal prosecutors about her drug use and an unrelated financial matter.


The imposed sentence came after Marion Jones pleaded guilty to two charges last October, when she retired from athletics and confessed to betraying the trust of her fans after years of denying she used performance enhancing drugs. Read more

World's First Outdoor Artificial Surfing Machine

From 2011, the world's first outdoor artificial surfing machine (£20m Venture Xtreme project) at Silvertown Quays will try to rival the Atlantic breakers of Devon and Cornwall using cleaned river water. Motorcycle Daredevil Evel Knievel Dies At Age 69

Evel Knievel, the red-white-and-blue-spangled motorcycle daredevil whose jumps over crazy obstacles including Greyhound buses, live sharks and Idaho's Snake River Canyon made him an international icon in the 1970s, died Friday.

His death was confirmed by his granddaughter, Krysten Knievel. He had been in failing health for years, suffering from diabetes and pulmonary fibrosis, an incurable condition that scarred his lungs.

Knievel had undergone a liver transplant in 1999 after nearly dying of hepatitis C, likely contracted through a blood transfusion after one of his bone-shattering spills. He also suffered two strokes in recent years.

Knievel was celebrated for a series of dangerous stunts.

MIAMI (AP) - The Miami-Dade Police Department arrested 4 people in connection with the shooting death of Washington Redskins star Sean Taylor.

They are: Venjah K. Hunte, 20; Eric Rivera Jr., 17; Jason Scott Mitchell, 17; and Charles Kendrick Lee Wardlow, 18.

The officer said the charges had not yet been determined, but "we are talking murder and burglary."
