Indonesian "Tree Man" May Be Cured

An Indonesian fisherman also known as "Tree Man", Dede, 35, has been given hope of recovering after all these years spending his life in deep sorrow and fear of being killed by the tree-like stuff growing on his body. The "strange roots" has caused him to be sacked and deserted by his wife, yet still raising his two children in poverty.


American doctor, Dr Anthony Gaspari from University of Maryland believes Dede could be recovered by a daily doses of a synthetic Vitamin A. His lesion and blood tests has been confirmed that his affliction is caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) which is a fairly common infection that causes small warts to develop on victims.

"I would like to bring him to the US to run tests on where his immune condition has come from, but I would need funding and to get him a visa as well as someone to cover the costs of the tests," said by Dr Gaspari.
